Solutions to The Common Faults of Inkjet Printers
Aug 01,2024

1. Printer outputs blank paper.

Most of the faults that cause blank printing are due to printhead blockage, ink cartridge without ink, etc. The printhead should be cleaned or the ink cartridge should be replaced; for laser printers, the cause of this type of fault may be that the developing roller does not absorb the toner (the DC bias of the developing roller is not added), or the photosensitive drum is not grounded, so that the negative charge cannot be released to the ground, and the laser beam cannot work on the photosensitive drum.

2. The output of printed paper becomes black

You should focus on checking whether the printhead is damaged, whether the ink tube is broken, whether the ink model is normal, etc.

3. Incomplete or unclear characters

There may be two reasons: the ink cartridge is out of ink or the printer is not used for a long time or is exposed to direct sunlight, causing the printhead to be blocked. The solution is to replace the ink cartridge or add ink. If the ink cartridge is not used up, it can be determined that the printhead is blocked: remove the ink cartridge (for printers where the ink cartridge printhead is not integrated, the printhead needs to be removed), and soak the printhead in warm water for a while. Be careful not to immerse the circuit board part in water, otherwise the consequences will be disastrous.

4. Printing is light

Printhead blockage, ink too dry, incorrect ink model, air entering the ink tube, and high operating temperature of the printer can cause machine failure. The printhead and ink cartridge should be inspected and repaired.

5. Clear on one side and unclear on the other side

when printing This phenomenon usually occurs on dot matrix printers, and may also occur on inkjet printers, but the probability is small. It is mainly caused by the non-parallel print head guide and print roller, resulting in the distance between the two being far and near. The solution is to adjust the distance between the print head guide and the print roller to make them parallel. The specific method is: loosen the adjustment plates on both sides of the print head guide, turn the adjustment plates counterclockwise to reduce the gap, and finally adjust the print head guide and the print roller to be parallel to solve the problem. However, pay attention to the direction when adjusting, and you can adjust it gradually and print several times.

6. Repeated stains on the printed paper

Repeated stains on the inkjet printer are caused by ink leakage from the ink cartridge or ink delivery tube. When the printhead performance is poor, the ejected ink cannot be well separated from the remaining ink and is in a balanced state, and ink leakage may also occur.

7. The print head is blocked from moving, stops and beeps for a long time, or vibrates in the same place

This is mainly because the print head guide rail will become dry after sliding for a long time, and the print head will be blocked when moving, and printing will stop to a certain extent. If it is not handled in time, the drive circuit may be burned in severe cases. The solution is to apply a few drops of instrument oil on the print guide rail and move the print head back and forth to evenly distribute it. After restarting the machine, if there is still obstruction, it may be that the drive circuit is burned out and needs to be taken to the maintenance department.

8. The printer is jammed or cannot feed paper

The most common printer failure is paper jam. When this failure occurs, the indicator light on the operation panel will light up and send an alarm signal to the host. There are many reasons for this failure, such as debris in the paper output path, failure of the paper feed roller and other parts to rotate, paper box not feeding paper, sensor failure, etc. The method to eliminate this failure is very simple. Just open the machine cover and remove the jammed paper. But be careful to take the paper in the paper feed direction and never turn any knob in the opposite direction. If paper jams frequently, check the paper feed channel and remove the debris in the output path. The front edge of the paper should be just above the metal plate. Wear of the paper output roller, loose spring, and insufficient pressure are all reasons why paper cannot be fed into the machine. When the paper output roller is worn and cannot be replaced for a while, you can use the method of wrapping a rubber band for emergency treatment. After wrapping the rubber band, the friction of paper rubbing is increased, which can restore the paper feeding to normal. In addition, improper installation of the paper tray and poor paper quality (too thin, too thick, damp) can also cause paper jams or failure to take paper.
